“
AAKP Says I Can!” is designed to raise awareness about kidney disease, dialysis and the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), while at the same time demonstrating that those who require dialysis do more in life than dialyze. AAKP has taken the initiative to increase the positive perception of dialysis as a treatment option.
In the United States , over eight million Americans have seriously reduced kidney function and 300,000 have complete kidney failure. Dialysis is a life-saving treatment that helps those with kidney failure live normal, happy and productive lives.
AAKP requests your assistance in raising awareness of kidney disease, dialysis, the American Association of Kidney Patients and demonstrating that those who require dialysis do more in life than dialyze. Posters of our inspirational patients are available free of charge. Please order copies of the posters and encourage your doctor or dialysis unit to display them.
AAKP has been helping patients and their families deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease for over 30 years. AAKP is the only national kidney patient organization directed by kidney patients for kidney patients. The programs offered by AAKP inform and inspire patients and their families to better understand their condition, adjust more readily to their circumstances and assume more normal, productive lives.
