AAKP Names New Marketing and Communications Manager

The American Association of Kidney Patients, the nation’s oldest patient-centered kidney organization, has named Sarah McConnell as its new Marketing and Communications Manager.

McConnell was selected for her extensive marketing experience in both the nonprofit and the private sector.  She spent several years with the Home Shopping Network as a marketing specialist, producing e-newsletters and assisting in email marketing and outbound sales campaigns.  McConnell then joined the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering serving as project lead on a wide range of marketing and promotional programs.  As the Marketing Director for the Tampa Family Health Centers, she had a key role in increasing the number of patients in the Center’s 13 locations through extensive website design and SEO optimization.  Most recently, as the Marketing Manager for Asure Software, she was responsible for the redesign, launch and implementation of websites, the online presence, social media and email marketing for four business entities, resulting in a 72% increase in lead generation.  Her skills and expertise focus on brand awareness, copywriting, social media, and content and web development.

“I am very excited to join AAKP and bring awareness to this amazing organization,” said McConnell. “AAKP provides a patient voice for those living with kidney disease, and I am proud to work with an organization that has such a rich history of advocacy on behalf of kidney patients and those who care for them.”

In addition to her experience in the nonprofit sector, she has also had success throughout her 15-year career working with various technology companies in the Tampa Bay area allowing her to broaden her skills across multiple marketing platforms.  McConnell is a graduate of the University of Tampa.

“Sarah’s diverse marketing background makes her an ideal ambassador to promote AAKP’s brand and message to the kidney community,” said Gary Green, Executive Director of the American Association of Kidney Patients. “We look forward to utilizing her expertise to better the lives of America’s kidney patients.”
