Tampa, Fla. : – On Friday, September 20, 2013, the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) welcomed 9 new members to its National Board of Directors. The AAKP Board of Directors is charged with carrying out the organization’s mission of improving the quality of life for kidney patients through education, advocacy and the fostering of patient communities.

The AAKP Board is comprised of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, dialysis patients, kidney transplant recipients, health care professionals and people who have a concern for the well-being of people affected by kidney disease. The AAKP charter mandates that 50 percent of Board members must be patients.
The members of the AAKP Board of Directors are committed to ensuring the public has a better understanding of kidney disease; kidney patients receive the best care available; kidney patients adjust more readily to their circumstances; and assume more normal, active lives in their communities.
