A Poem of Hope for Kidney Patients This Valentine’s Day (Posted February 13, 2018)

Written By: Barbara Abrams

“I was hopelessly trapped (not my choice) in a world that looked all black and white.

Until one day, everything was in color, vivid and bright.”

A year ago today, an extraordinary woman (Janie Zimmerman) gave me her kidney.

Which allowed me a quality of life I didn’t know was in me.

My world as I knew it was changed forever.

I started feeling better and better.

I can proudly shout out my miraculous success story.

Truth be told, my donor deserves all the glory.

Every day,

That twinkle in my eye, is here to stay.

My depression has taken a permanent vacation.

A kidney arrived at its new destination.

Today is cause for celebration!!!

I thank YOU, all my friends for your unwavering support in this saga.

I only wish I could sing like Lady Ga Ga.

LIFE is short    LIVE it

LOVE is rare    GRAB it

Some ANGER is bad    DUMP it

FEAR is real    FACE it.

MEMORIES are sweet   CHERISH them

I remain eternally GRATEFUL,
