The holiday season can seem like a difficult time for individuals with kidney disease that have a specific dietary plan to follow, but it certainly doesn’t have to be! Let trained chef and fellow kidney patient Duane Sunwold share easy tips on how to keep it kidney-friendly around the holidays. Whether you’re cooking at home or celebrating out, the holidays can still be an enjoyable time of year with family, friends and FOOD!

Speaker: Duane Sunwold. Duane is a Culinary and Hotel-Restaurant Management Instructor. He’s been teaching at Spokane Community College since 1981 where he has influenced countless chefs and hotel managers. Duane’s diagnosis of kidney disease was life-changing, leading him to publish dozens of journal articles and give a number of talks on his life-saving diet and transformation as a chef with a nutritional focus. An alumnus of SCC and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Duane once served as guest chef to Bill Gates and to the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary AB, Canada.

The AAKP HealthLine is a webinar-based program (with the conference call option still available for those without a computer) that conveniently educates patients and their family members on a variety of important health care topics from the comfort of their home or office.
