Tampa, FL – The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is pleased to announce the unveiling of its new patient friendly website. AAKP unveiled the www.aakp.org website Tuesday, July 30, 2013. The site features updated information, easier navigation and new search tools. The new AAKP website means that people living with kidney disease and their care providers can now benefit from richer online content that is easier to navigate and share with others. The redesigned site is a result of feedback from patients and health care professionals.
“The AAKP website is a critical part of our outreach and education efforts,” said AAKP President Sam Pederson. “It is a powerful tool that provides the most useful information to our audiences and the general public.”
The launch of the new website, which offers quick and easy access to important information on chronic kidney disease, dialysis, kidney transplantation and co-morbid conditions related to kidney disease, is part of the organization’s on-going efforts to enhance the quality and availability of information to AAKP members, family members and health care professionals. The new website offers a modern look and streamlined user experience. It features enhanced resources and functionality designed specifically for the AAKP audience. The objective of the redesign was to create a website that would provide up-to-date information on what is taking place in the kidney community in terms of treatment research, health education and allow for patient engagement. The site contains several FREE helpful resources including:

- Digital copy of aakpRENALIFE magazine
- An Online Personal Health Record, AAKP MyHealth
- Updates on AAKP Programs & Events, found in the Community section.
New content will continue to roll out on the site over the coming months as more features are added to increase functionality. “We continue to strive to provide the most useful information possible to our audiences, and this new website will help us in that effort,” said Pederson.
AAKP is the voluntary, patient organization, which for more than 40 years, has been dedicated to improving the quality of life of kidney patients through education, advocacy and the fostering of patient communities. The programs offered by AAKP inform and inspire patients and their families to better understand their condition, adjust more readily to their circumstances, and assume more normal, productive lives in their communities.
