Medal of Excellence Recipients

The Medal of Excellence is an AAKP legacy award that recognizes health care professionals who have contributed to the advancement and evolution of direct patient care, encouraged the expansion of the patient engagement model within the renal community and enhanced the quality of life for kidney patients and their families. These individuals have contributed to research, science and the advancement of care to positively impact the lives of those living with chronic kidney disease and their family members. Historically, the Medal of Excellence was awarded to a renal physician, however in 2014 AAKP expanded the award program to honor additional members of the healthcare team. This expansion allowed AAKP and the renal community to recognize all those who play an important role in helping patients overall health and wellbeing and live their best life possible.
