AAKP NATIONAL PATIENT MEETING SCHEDULED FOR SEPT. 8 - 10, 2017 IN ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA WILL BE RESCHEDULED:
(Posted Sept. 5, 2017) We have been closely monitoring the situation with Hurricane Irma over the last few days and its possible effect on the Tampa/St. Petersburg area.
Our main concern of course is the safety of our meeting attendees, many of whom are patients. The worry is that they might be stuck in a major weather event and in need of dialysis or other medical attention, away from their usual health care team.
In view of this concern, the latest forecast of the Irma’s path, and Governor Scott’s declaration of a statewide emergency, the leadership of AAKP has decided to postpone this week’s meeting and to reschedule it for early next year. We will be working closely with the hotel on the rescheduled date with our sponsors, speakers and attendees, and will be sure to inform you as soon as the rescheduled date is set.
If you are scheduled to attend the National Patient Meeting, you will be contacted by an AAKP staff member later today or tomorrow. However, if you have a hotel reservation at the Vinoy Renaissance for the meeting, you should cancel it as soon as possible—please do so now by calling 888-789-3090.
We are attempting to obtain additional information from airlines servicing Tampa. When you are called, we hope to have information on what you should do to cancel your air travel.
Thank you for your understanding of this difficult situation, and we hope to see you at our bigger and better annual Patient Meeting in the winter or spring of next year!
